Yes. Digital x-rays are one of our greatest preventive tools and an essential part of care.
Patients often fear that receiving an implant will be painful, but this is not the case. We use local anesthesia to numb your gums, and you can expect the procedure to feel about the same as getting a filling. There is some pressure, but no pain.
Patients experience little to no pain after placement, but we will also give you a prescription to preemptively combat pain and swelling.
The length of time required for healing depends on the location of your implant. The general rule is an implant placed in the upper jaw will take 3 to 6 months, while one in the jaw takes 2 to 3 months. Once the implant has healed and integrated, it will be restored for the final time.
An implant that has fully healed should last for up to 30 years when you care for it properly.
Once your implant is installed and has a crown added to it, you just need to maintain a normal good oral health routine. You should brush and floss on a daily basis, drink plenty of water, and eat healthy meals with lots of vegetables.
